Questions

Which quartile method is used?

Linear interpolation (the same as Excel QUARTILE.INC and NumPy’s default). Other textbook methods can differ slightly.

Sample or population standard deviation?

Use sample (n − 1) when your data is a sample of a larger group, which is most lab and survey data.
