Result

Results appear here as you type.

What it does

Type a whole expression the way you would write it on paper. Implicit multiplication works (2pi, 3(4+1)), and the parser reports exactly where a mistake is instead of returning NaN.

How to use it

  1. Type the expression.
  2. Choose degrees or radians for trig functions.
  3. Read the result as you type.

Example

2 × 0.5 + 4/4 + 120 = 122 Select Try an example above to see it.

When it helps

  • Checking homework answers.
  • Quick lab calculations.
  • Evaluating formulas from notes.

Questions

Which functions are available?

sin, cos, tan, sec, csc, cot, asin, acos, atan, sinh, cosh, tanh, sqrt, cbrt, abs, ln, log (base 10), log2, exp, floor, ceil, round, and n! for factorial. Constants: pi, e, tau.

What does log mean here?

log is base 10. Use ln for the natural logarithm.

How precise are results?

Standard double precision (about 15 to 16 significant digits). Results are displayed rounded to 10 decimal places.
